Background

Jess Nance, Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer, joined First Reliance Bank in November of 2004. His knowledge in various facets of banking is a function of his more than 25 years of experience. At First Reliance, Mr. Nance’s responsibilities include overseeing credit administration, loan review and non-performing asset management. Mr. Nance also serves as Chairman of the Management Loan Committee, which is charged with overall responsibility of the bank’s loan portfolio. He oversees both the monthly comprehensive meetings as well as the weekly loan approval meetings.

Mr. Nance began his career in 1977 with the Farm Credit System and rapidly moved into various positions of increased responsibility. He later joined First Union National Bank where he served for 8 years, initially in Greenville, SC and later in Florence as Vice President and Commercial Banking Manager of the Pee Dee region. Mr. Nance’s next move came in 1997 when he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Florence National Bank, a de nova bank headquartered in Florence SC.

Education

Mr. Nance is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He is also a graduate of The Graduate School of Banking of the South at LSU.

Memberships

Mr. Nance has been an active member of the Florence community and participated in several civic organizations including the Florence Rotary Club. He has also served on the boards of the Florence Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Development Center, the Independent Bankers of South Carolina, and the Florence Regional Arts Alliance.
