Background

Ken Cox, Jr., Senior Vice President of Mortgage Banking, joined First Reliance Bank in June of 2005. His responsibilities include implementing and overseeing directed mortgage initiatives that focus on increasing the market share within the footprint of First Reliance Bank. Mr. Cox is also responsible for all aspects of mortgage production for retail and wholesale areas, developing strategies for ongoing training opportunities for both the sales and support teams, and the implementation of mortgage product offerings and pricing strategies.

Prior to joining First Reliance Bank, Mr. Cox was Vice President and Market Manager for SouthTrust Mortgage in Columbia, SC. He was responsible for retail mortgage production. Upon the consummation of the merger with SouthTrust and Wachovia, Mr. Cox was named Vice President and Mortgage Banking Leader for the Columbia, SC market. During his duration of employment at SouthTrust and Wachovia, Mr. Cox was recognized as President's Club level in mortgage production. Preceding this, Mr. Cox also had seven years of wholesale mortgage experience at Ginger Mae, where he was Senior District Director. During his time with Ginger Mae, Mr. Cox developed correspondent relationships with retail banks in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Education

Mr. Cox is a 1985 graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Memberships

Mr. Cox is a long time, active member of several industry related organizations. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Education Committee and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas. Mr. Cox also is a member of the Columbia Home Builders Association, Mortgage Bankers Association of America, and has volunteered for Harvest Hope Food Bank, in Columbia, SC.
